Happy Mother’s Day To All!!!

Have a great day, kick back and enjoy!

Smile

Ok, before you get the wrong idea…  We were out camping at St. Croix State Park, MN.  We do some Geocaching and normally the ‘treasures’ are found in an Ammo Box, but this time the treasures were stashed in a different container…..  A little odd, we thought – being that a lot of kids do Geocaching, But, we just roll with it all.

Double Rainbow–Has Spring Finally Sprung?

20130428_175449

Caught this double rainbow a week or so ago, of course I think we have had a couple more snow storms since then.  But I think NOW we have finally gotten rid of winter and sprung in to Spring!  A couple of raindrops on the windshield there, so though the snow seems to have gotten out of our systems here, there is still plenty of rain in the forecast.

Free Comic Book Day… YAHOO!

P1040488

Most of the characters need no introduction!

P1040480

All sorts of folks turning out for this. They opened early due to ‘not so nice’ weather and the fact that the line wraps around the building. It is crazy inside ‘The Source’, which is where the free comic book days are held. (That’s the back of Little Guy’s head)

P1040482

P1040483

All the super heroes and even the villains are pretty nice, everyone just comes for the cool ‘stuff’ and they all get along just fine.

They even stop to pose for a group photo!

Ummm – of course, Batman (sans the 6-pack) comes in to hog the scene. But no one really seems to care.

Hey, you lookin’ at ME? Yikes!

(Oh….and we got all sorts of Free Comic Books Too!!!)

Downtown Disney

On our vacation this year we went to Disney World, which included a trip to Downtown Disney. While there we stopped to eat at a place that was full of Dinosaurs. Was a pretty neat place, unfortunately I didn’t get the best pictures of it as it was always turning different colors.

This was the place:

This Weekend: April 26th-28th, 2013.

P1040396

This weekend was the first camping trip of the season, of course it had snowed earlier in the week. That is *our* camper in the above photo.

P1040394

Mandy wanted you to know that even though it was 70 degrees, the piles of snow were still getting in her way sometimes. She tried to stay off the white stuff!

P1040445

We were camping at William O’Brian. Not too far from where we live, as our kids were going out on their first trip with their brand new camping trailer.

P1040443

My oldest daughter with Ruby, our grand-greyhound and LIttle Guy being inspired by the beauty of the St. Croix River. It separates Minnesota (where we live) from Wisconsin.

Geo-caching causes you to do some things you don’t do in every day life. That is my ,daughter in that tree, the prize we were tracking was hung high up in the branches!

P1040459

Humm…. as always many navigators!

LIttle Guy trying out a little pine tree Climbing, with a little help from his Bampa!

Was a beautiful weekend as we had received several inches of snow on Monday (think it was), then were hiking in 77 degree weather most of the weekend.

One More Time – April 23rd

This what I saw driving to work yesterday morning.

P1040365

Not easy to see the traffic lights either.

P1040369

Seriously, spring has yet to be sprung and there is much anticipation.

This sort of weather has kept us doing inside things such as bowling.  This is how Little Guy Showed up at my door.

P1040356

Of course we went bowling….

Last Few Months (again)

Kids in a jar!

P1040296

Little guy also had his 6th birthday and we were over at Pump It Up where they have all manner of entertainment to occupy the mind of a child (no matter how old the ‘child’ is). Also a place where a lot of the things to play with are not played with in the manner of which they were meant to be used.

This is supposed to be Skee Ball.

Little Guy is my Grandson and spends the weekends with us from time to time. Never know what will be going on around here from one moment to the next. This battle took place in late February I believe. He won! Smile

What a motley crew these Minnesota Hockey players are!

Winking smile

Little Guy is middle, with the Hockey glove up by his face holding his stick.

Love watching these guys play, they are so much fun to watch.

End of the season in the locker room. He plans to continue in the Summer league. (or whatever they are calling it.)

The Drive Home Today

Ok…so we live in Minnesota.  We expect snow and cold in the winter time.  However, here it is the 19th of April and this is what the long, slow drive home looked like:

P1040350

These are taken through my windshield, so not the best clarity.

P1040352

Yep I have ALL the time in the world so you guys just hang out in the middle of the road…I’ll wait.

P1040353

Finally…. now I can get the rest of the way home!

But of course they are hanging out in my backyard as well.

P1040354

I think the deer are as bummed by this *long* winter as we people are.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Renner: Nothing says Holidays like a new toy!!!  MINE!

Mandy: Wait, aren’t they all MINE??

Mandy: Apparently this is the season of sharing and caring, so I guess I have to share, or so I have just been instructed by my Mom. Renner can think that is his toy all he wants, but when he isn’t looking it will be mine as well.

Smile

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Lilac, We Will Miss You

An Old Lady Wears Purple

The folks over at Tales and Tails have suffered a terrible blow last Monday. They lost their beloved Grand Dame, Lilac.  Though I am late in learning the news and offering my condolences it is as heart-felt and sincere as any I have ever offered.  The hardest part of loving a Greyhound is having to say that final good-bye.  Many hugs for having given a senior a home and allowing to be taught to love the way that only seniors can teach you.  They are wonderful and it is a rewarding, fulfilling experience to adopt a senior Greyhound.  God speed Lilac, God Bless her family that misses her so much.  We miss her too.

This from Tales and Tails in regard to Lilac:

“Since she’s lived with us, the poem Warning: When I Am An Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple by Jenny Joseph has always reminded me of Lilac.

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple

with a red hat that doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

and satin candles, and say we’ve no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired

and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

and run my stick along the public railings

and make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

and pick the flowers in other people’s gardens

and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

and eat three pounds of sausages at a go

or only bread and pickles for a week

and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

and pay our rent and not swear in the street

and set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.”

*******************************************************************************

Lilac…I love the color purple.  When I look at the stars at night I will know you are there running with the rest of my loves who have gone before you.  They will greet you and invite you to run through the open meadows of soft grass and flowers, the sun always on your back to warm you. The rainbow bridge is a beautiful place where I someday hope to sit and watch all of my beautiful greyhound loves run and play. I hope to see you there with them when the time comes.
